Associate Consultants and Researchers
Dr. Elsbeth Robson , (BSc (hons), DPhil Agricultural Development, MA Teaching & Learning in Higher Education), Associate Consultant, is an experienced qualitative and quantitative researcher, facilitator and participatory trainer. She is experienced in training adults through her ten years experience lecturing, teaching and training in higher education. She has a doctorate based on fieldwork with farmers in Nigeria and is familiar with agricultural development and policy issues in Malawi from her work as a rural development researcher. She has undertaken a range of research and training assignments around agriculture, rural livelihoods, children, and other social issues. She has served on numerous local, national and international committees in academic, professional and voluntary organisations in her career.
Sam Katengeza, (BSc, MSc Agricultural and applied Economics) Associate Consultant, is an experienced Malawian Agricultural Economist with a strong business and livelihoods focus. Sam has considerable agricultural and evaluative experience, including value-chain analysis and working with agri-businesses. He has undertaken several evaluations of agriculture related programs and projects, with good networks of contacts in and around government and the private sector. His expertise is in agricultural commodity marketing and price analysis; participatory project planning, management and evaluation; data management, analysis and interpretation; agricultural and rural development; and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Donata Saiti Chitsonga (BSc. Agriculture & Economics), Associate Consultant, has been working with Kadale for over 10 years, as a researcher and an Associate. She has considerable field research experience, particularly Focus Group facilitation and conducting participatory research. With a background in agriculture and economics, she has been involved in a range of socio-economic research assignments, including agriculture and micro-finance. She also undertook interviews and FGDs for the FinScope Malawi study.
Bryan Mkandawire, (B.Ed. English with African Languages and Logistics, MBA – Pending), Researcher and Facilitator, is highly qualified and experienced field researcher and focus group/workshop facilitator. Besides his academic education and training, Bryan has also participated in a number of different training workshops related to socio-economic research. Bryan has worked on over 20 different projects as a researcher, often in a supervisory role, since 2003 for organisations such as Oxfam, World Food Program and a number of development consultancies. He has been involved at various times in all stages of project development, from proposal to reporting. He has also worked in food aid monitoring at various intervals since 2002 for CARE Malawi. His roles have included; Field Advisor, Food Distribution Monitor and Monitoring and Evaluation officer. Bryan has also been involved in HIV/AIDS project management as a project officer for Lydia Project in 2004.
Richard Kusseni, (B.Ed. Science), Researcher and Facilitator, has worked with Kadale on a number of assignments, undertaking field supervision and focus groups. He has also been involved in developing and piloting questionnaires.
Through our networks we can call upon several other Associates with particular experience in socio-economic development. We also co-operate closely with other respected consulting firms in Malawi including Imani Development, Business Consult Africa, and Anchor and Mooring (legal consultants). We have developed relationships with other international consulting firms in the region, Europe and the USA, being the regionally-based partner of choice.
